A drought around the country means market forces are likely to push milk prices as much as 41-cents a gallon by October 1st. Experts say a decision from a California court could lessen the impact of the price hikes here.

The 41-cent increase would add to California’s already high milk prices. However, a judge has ruled that the state must allow more milk producers from outside the state to sell their product here.

Experts say that could lead to increased supplies and resist the impulse to raise prices.
