A Lodi pastor says he wants to save lives and souls. Dr. Norm Mowery with Lodi's First United Methodist Church says he got the idea after watching news coverage of teen shootings. He is providing free gun locks for members of his congregation.

Dr. Mowery says he's most concerned with young people who use a gun either against themselves or others. The pastor made a deal with Lodi's Big 5 store to purchase the locks for just 80-cents apiece.

A church member is also offering a class to help parents and children learn the proper way to use and care for a firearm.
