Dozens of families took part in a car seat safety check this morning at Cal Expo.

Anchor Melissa Crowley joined experts from the California Highway Patrol and the U.C. Davis Medical Center in a team effort to help parents and grandparents keep their kids safe while riding in the car.

The teams checked each car seat brought into the Cal Expo parking lot to make sure it wasn't damaged or hadn't been recalled.

The biggest problem experts found involved seats that were too loose, big, or straps that were too low.

New seats were exchanged for those that had been compromised and were no longer safe.
