Services are available as usual today at the San Joaquin County Hospital, the courthouse, and other key facilities.

That's because a last minute deal averted a planned strike by more than 2,000 county clerical and service workers.

Union leaders announced the decision to call off the strike before the midnight deadline.

Both sides say there are final details to be worked out before a vote is held on the contract but the framework is in place for a final settlement.
