Telemarketers are people who call homes trying to sell things or services. It is their job to call people. If people do not like to be called by telemarketers they can sign up to be on a “do not call” list. This list tells telemarketers not to call phone numbers that are on the list.

Telemarketers are not supposed to call people who are on the “do not call” list. If they do call these people they can get in trouble. They can be fined $500 for each call that they make after they have been told to stop calling.

One man is fed up with calls from telemarketers. He signed up to be on the “do not call” list but still got a lot of calls. He kept a list of telemarketers who continued to call his home. He took some of them to court. He sued them. So far this man has collected over $13,000 from telemarketers who would not take no for an answer.

This man said that if others are interested in suing telemarketers they will need to keep good records. He offers detailed instructions on a Web site that he created. Many people have visited his Web site.

This man believes that Americans are tired of telemarketers who break the law.
